Fat transfer, also called fat injection or fat grafting, is a procedure that uses the patient’s own fat tissue to increase the volume of fat in another area of the body. The fat used in the transfer is harvested from one part of the body where there is an excess amount through a liposuction procedure, most commonly taken from the abdomen or thighs. The fat is prepared to remove blood and other unwanted ingredients, and it is then placed in another part of the body where the additional bulk is desired. Fat is most commonly transferred to the breasts, face, or buttocks. The results of fat transfer can last many years.
Fat transfer to Face
Fat harvested through a liposuction procedure can be injected into a desired area of the face to help add volume and fill wrinkles and creases. Areas most commonly injected include the lips, the sunken areas beneath the eyes, nasolabial folds (the deep wrinkles next to the mouth), forehead creases, and cheek augmentation. A new procedure that is used for fat transfer to face is with micronized fat, where adult fat cells are filtered out and only the preadipocytes and stem cells are injected along with your own PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma. This enhances better uptake of the ft cells in the grafted area and also helps with precision in filling the face. The results are natural, long-lasting and your own.
Fat transfer to Buttocks/Brazilian Butt Lift
Fat transferred to the buttocks can help create a curvier, rounder, and shapelier rear end. Fat transfer to the buttocks is known as gluteoplasty or “Brazilian Butt Lift”. Following the procedure, patients must cease normal activities for a few days, and wear a compression garment for about 6 weeks.
